What is the nervous system?

The nervous system sits within your spinal cord down to the tail bone and back up to the membranous tissue that sits in and around your brain, bathed and immersed in the spinal fluid. Your Nervous system is a complex network of cells called neurones that transmit signals between different parts of the body.

Your nervous system can be divided into two main parts: The central nervous system (CNS), which includes the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system (PNS), which includes all the nerves that branch out from the CNS to the rest of the body.
